golden house studios!
I am pleased to announce that I will be handling the marketing and pr work for my mother's new artistic endeavor, Golden House Studios. Using the photographs I take, my mother transforms the picture with the careful use of texturing, coloring and the fusing of natural beeswax, to create her encaustic art.

& unlimited dogs!
I am thrilled to start handling the publicity for a new client ... my dog photography business, & unlimited dogs! It will be interesting to publicize my own services and talk up my own picture (although one of my 2009 resolutions is to be bolder...), but I am eager to start. After researching a lot of dog photography sites, there are lots of media outlets for my own work and as with any other client, I am eager to find many more!

2009 resolutions
Inspired by one of my clients, Brook, I am posting my resolutions for 2009 just a few days late. In the past, my resolutions have included goals like taking more pictures (which I stole from my favorite Friends character, Monica, one year. I would say it has worked out pretty well so far...), flossing more (check!) and becoming fluent in Italian (a big X, despite the fact it was my minor in college). This year, instead of having just one resolution, I will have a few, and those few resolutions will not be as concrete or tangible as my previous vows- 2009 will be my year of conceptual resolutions.
1. Seek inspiration from a variety of (unusal) sources. Of course this is not strictly applicable to photography or my PR work, but to my life as a whole.
2. Be bolder. I'm naturally a bit of an introvert, which is not something I want to change, but if I truly want something, I will pursue it. Period.
3. Savor the sweetness of life. In the world of photography and pr, where deadlines abound, life can sometimes feel like one big whirl. It is my goal, both in my personal and professional worlds, to slow down and appreciate even the most chaotic moments, as often times those lead to some pretty amazing outcomes.
4. Identifying compassion. One of my yoga teachers in college would often remind us to ask ourselves what compassion looked like in both yoga poses and in life. When you truly stop to think about this notion of finding and identifying compassion in everything you do, whether it's half moon pose or standing in line at the market, it can be pretty influential.
favorite winter ads!
Although magazines have slimmed up as ad sales have decreased, it's not very hard for me to find my favorite seasonal ads. In fact, I look forward to perusing the advertisements in each magazine and comparing the ideas and goals for each one, month to month. Here are some of the winter ads I find to be quite enjoyable:

This ad is for BMW's Advanced Diesel, a technology that lead them to win the World Green Car of the Year. As more businesses are shifting toward sustainable practices, it's always interesting to see what ads they come up with. I'm looking forward to seeing those displayed in many of the spring's "green" issues.

Although this isn't a new-ish ad, I cannot resist the Annie Leibovitz + Sean Connery combo. Classic!

I always love the layout and design of DKNY ads.

The simplicity, font and image all complement each other so well. Plus, it reminds me of our friends in Madison, John & Erin!
